It's true to say living on an island is different to a nice 'semi' with a driveway. And to those who understand, the pros far outweigh the cons. Every morning and every evening there is a river view, with some of the best sunrises and sunsets in the country as the sky and the river change colour simultaneously.
Supermarket Deliveries:
All the major home delivery services such as Amazon or Ocado or Tesco are happy to deliver to our doorstep. In addition, there are two convenience stores in the village open 7am-10pm so anything you forget is never more than 5 minutes walk away.
Where major deliveries are required, such as removals etc there are boat services that are extremely local that can be hired by the hour to help you to your back door from the river.
Milk and Postal Services
The Island is treaded as any other "street" with the milkman, newspaper deliveries and postal services calling at normal times. We even have our own postbox which is collected daily!
Rubbish Collection
Islanders pay rates like everybody else and we get our rubbish collected from our doors by Elmbridge Council, including recycling. In addition, twice a year the Island arranges a river rubbish collection where larger items can be transferred from the Island's own mooring area across for collection and disposal by a professional disposal and recycling firm.
